On Tuesday, Justin “McLovin” Hutchinson announced his resignation at Hot 101.9 to pursue employment at The Billings Beet.

In an exclusive interview, Hutchinson offered some of his perspective:

“I’ve been at the [Big J] show since 2008, and I could not have asked for a better place to have perfected my craft. These guys have taught me everything from comedy, to how to fundraise the ol’ fashioned way over the phone, and how to pop in the CDs. From the bottom of my heart, I could not imagine a place harder to leave. It breaks me to say that I’ll be stepping down from my partnership with Big J [Jason Harris], and saying goodbye to the Hot 101.9 family. I cannot tell you how great of an opportunity its been to pursue my best self. I really feel like this was the most special time of my life.”

After the interview, Hutchinson also had this to say: “To be honest…sorry, can we stop recording? Ok cool thanks. The show just doesn’t make sense anymore. I mean, c’mon. He’s lost 130lbs and we’re still calling him “Big J”? Give me a break. You know what I mean? Plus I don’t even love McDonald’s that much. I’m really leaving a lot of trash behind. I can’t even tell you how grateful I am to be coming on with you guys. You guys actually report news instead of just spouting off meaningless small town commentary. I think… I think I’m home.”

Hutchinson starts next Monday as The Beet’s bellhop. “I’m really excited to work for a prestigious news conglomerate. You guys are actually polished and have the creativity to sustain long term.”
